SFAI MFA Show at Fort Mason

Yes! Normally I don't post stuff that I find ridiculous or just plain awful but this is SO awful, the tuition is SO high and their results are SO very bad that I just needed to do some venting. The warehouse was full of "art" like this. I can forgive student's imitation of more established artists; after all, they are young and don't have that much experience but this was not only bad art, it was listless.

I think some of the images you posted represent a super current take on contemporary art. Great pics!

everyone is entitled to their own opinion, certainly about art, but this is a bit unfair. You can't take 5 pieces of work out of an art exhibition of over 80 students and call the show bad. Some of the works that were presented this year were phenomenal and its thoughtless ignore them as individuals and label the entire show as poor using 5 artists whose works is unappealing to you personally.

After being unimpressed by most of the SF Fine Arts Fair, I was looking forward to looking at some more adventurous MFA work. But this was the worst MFA show I had ever seen. Of course, there were 3-4 grads who did great work, but most of the work showed little thought, effort and inspiration. I used to have a lot of respect for the SFAI...
