Farewell 2010

Conquer the demons of the old year to make room for the new. Will 2011 be better? Probably not - as Dickens said, "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times." Still, savor the brief moment of optimism as the new year begins, the transitory shinning bubble of hopes, dreams and wishes that just might become true.
You never know.

Nancy, you're just going to have to stop being so upbeat and unrealistic! :-) Happy New Year, Kiddo. I'm convinced it's going to be a banner year for you. After all, 2010 brought you fame and glory as a journalist - who knows what heights you will reach in 2011!

Fame and glory? Ma cherie, what have you been drinking? But if I could get anything for 2011, I'd be over-the-top happy to have quieter upstairs neighbors. No more loud rap beating through the place from 3 PM to 3 AM, no more leadfoot and crew stomping in in shifts between 1 AM and 3 AM. Enough is enough! But if I can't get that, I'd happily settle for writing for a real newspaper with real editorial oversight and maybe even (gasp) some genuine mentoring.
I don't want much, do I?
