It's such a fine day that it makes me want to SHOUT!

Shout! by Lulu from my long ago youth. I think I played the 45 so many times that it finally wore out. I had to play it before my father got home from work and my mother from her various clubs and things because playing rock and roll was strictly forbidden which I was a girl. But when you are young and full of energy, this was just the best song!

Oh lord, all the fun things we had to "accomplish" before our parents got home. Lulu--oh wow, did I ever have a major crush! My favorite was "To Sir With Love". But I definitely wasn't much of a dancer, like you, Nancy. The first time I got to watch American Bandstand I couldn't figure out what in the heck was going on. The mystery continues.

I used to watch American Bandstand when we were in the states and try to copy all the cool girls. I don't think I ever achieved even a degree of cool but I had fun trying. Now when I look back, I wonder how any of us managed to dance given the cumbersome clothes - tons of starched slips, wide skirts, heels as high as our parents would allow, hair sprayed and back combed into a still beehive. Plus makeup. Plus charm bracelet. Plus......Autre temps, autre mores.
