Louis Comfort Tiffany was born on this day in 1848 (Feb 18, 1848 - January 17, 1933). An icon of American art, he was a leader in the American field of decorative arts, with particular emphasis on Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movements.

I have always loved Tiffany lamps, especially when they hang over a table. I've had a few fake ones and I loved the look. I think if you can find authentic ones today it would cost more than I have in my checking account. :) Still, this type of mosaic shade is something I will always love.
